Cave de Saumur Réserve des Vignerons Rouge 2011

Since this bottling, Cave des Vignerons de Saumur has changed its name to Robert & Marcel “in order to better reflect the character of its wines and the generosity of the men and women who make it what it is”. The cooperative was founded in 1957 by 40 winegrowers that desired working together “to share their experience, their expertise and their dreams”. Today they have grown to 300 members with 1800 hectares spread out over 10 hamlets and 15 estates. With the land being passed down to each new generation, the cooperative is committed to preserving the terrior, environment and biodiversity of the area. They employ organic farming methods and do not use any chemicals.

Red-violet in colour with aromas of raspberry, earth and herbaceous nuances. Tart red currant and pomegranate flavours joined smooth green tea tannins in the medium body, whilst an earthy garrique along with hints of dried wild flowers lingered between each sip. Rustic and confident, this is a fantastic value and versatile companion at the table.
