Le Chiantigiane Sangiovese Toscana IGT 2012 was part of the large selection of wines I had brought to my sister’s house for Christmas day. We decided to give it a pour to accompany a cheese plate along with various crackers and bread. Le Chiantigiane is the largest wine producing consortium in Tuscany, producing 15 million bottles a year. The cooperative is renowned for forward thinking and quality-orientated directives. With long standing relationships with their grape growers, they produce a wide range of wine, from excellent value bottles to splendid single estate Chianti Classico. Having a motto of “tradition is our starting point, and innovation is what takes us forward “, their focus is on the pursuit of quality and the satisfaction of the drinker.
Dark garnet in colour with aromas of cherry and earth. Cherry and plum flavours joined earthy elements in the medium body, whilst soft tannins, white peppercorn and traces of balsamic comprised the moderate finish. With a price that really can’t be beat, this is a straightforward, easy drinking, versatile companion at the table.
“At least 90% Sangiovese, other authorized red grape varieties may be added up to 10%.”
Bottled by Le Chiantigiane Soc. Coop. Agricola
