Ahhhhh more Beaujolais Nouveau! I thoroughly enjoyed the Joseph Drouhin 2012 vintage and was enthusiastic to give this year’s offering a pour. Maison Joseph Drouhin was founded over 130 years ago and is today one of the largest family estates in Burgundy, headed now by the 4th generation of the Drouhin family. They are passionate about organic and biodynamic viticulture with methods such as herb-based vine treatments and plowing by horse, and have found these natural practices to fully allow them to cultivate their goal of expressing “the exact character of each terrior”.
A rich dark violet in colour with aromas of cherry jam and crushed granite minerals. Jammy raspberry and tart cherry flavours in the light to medium body join a bright acidity and a clean mineral finish. Fresh and tangy, this is a straightforward, super easy drinking glass great for a wide variety of dishes. [And a great value!]
