Taburni Domus Beneventano Piedirosso IGP 2011

Piedirosso is a native Italian grape grown primarily in the Campania region. It is generally utilized as a blending grape, but a few producers are now letting it shine as a stand alone varietal. GEF Ltd is a family farm that produces and bottles DOC wines under the brand name Taburni Domus. It is located in Torrecuso, a commune in the Province of Benevento in the Campania region. They practice organic viticulture and focus on native grape varietals such as Aglianico and Falanghina.

Dark garnet in colour with aromas of strawberry and barnyard funk. Black cherry, plum and traces of sour cherry were supported by earth elements and dry black tea tannins in the medium body, whilst dried cherry and earthy, spiced clove comprised the compact finish. Rustic and easy drinking, this is a fantastic glass to accompany a wide variety of dishes, especially cheesy pastas and grilled vegetables.
