Château Tour Boisée ‘Marietta & Frédérique’ Vendanges 2011

I adore every wine that Jean-Louis and Marie-Claude Poudou make. In addition to being budget friendly, they are expressive, character driven bottles that are a wonderful complement to any dish, or fantastic on their own. Domaine La Tour Boisée is a family estate founded in 1826 and located in the heart of the Minervois appellation in southern France. Today the estate consists of 200 acres of vineyards and over 2500 olive trees, some of which date all the way back to the 17th century. Marie-Claude took over the estate in 1982 from her parents, and along with her husband Jean-Louis, he from a long line of grape growers, and both are passionate about tending to the terrior and old vines. The grapes were sourced from 40+ year old vineyards, vinified traditionally and unoaked to preserve fruit character.

Dark red-violet in colour with aromas of violets, wild berries and earth. Jammy blackberry and black currant flavours were supported by a refreshing acidity in the medium body, whilst spicy pink peppercorn and sweet herbs comprised the moderate finish. Straightforward and easy drinking, this is a charming glass on its own or with a wide variety of dishes.

40% Syrah, 40% Grenache, 20% Mourvedre
Vinified and bottled at the estate by Jean-Louis and Marie-Claude Poudou
13.5% Alcohol
Enjoy now thru 2015
