Lockhart Pinot Noir 2011

I picked up Lockhart Pinot Noir 2011 because I fancied the simple yet elegant label and whilst not estate bottled, it was cellared and bottled in St. Helena, Napa County and had a budget friendly price, so I felt it had a high probability of being rather tasty. Lockhart Wines are collaboration with T. Edward Wines, which was founded in 1944 as an importer and wholesaler of wines. Today they are dedicated to organic, biodynamic and natural winegrowers with a portfolio of artisanal wines from family vineyards around the world. The grapes for the Pinot Noir were sourced from sustainably farmed vineyards in Sonoma and Napa counties.

Bright ruby red in colour with aromas of violets, cherry and earth. Red currant and pomegranate flavours glided over and undercurrent of cleansing, silky smooth tannins, whilst earthy minerals comprised the clean finish. Easy drinking and a fantastic value, this is an engaging glass headlining bright fruit along with a fresh acidity and warm earth notes.
