L’Escargot Pinot Noir 2011

I picked up L’Escargot Pinot Noir 2011 since value priced Pinot Noir from France aren’t readily found in my local wine shops. L’Escargot is a solo project of James Ryland, a winemaker who produces wines around the world for the Lurton empire. The grapes were sourced from domaines in the Cotes de Gascogne and Languedoc regions of southern France.

Dark ruby red in colour with aromas of candied cherry and wet stone. Bright cherry and strawberry flavours joined a pleasant acidity in the light to medium body, whilst white pepper, earth and traces of dark chocolate comprised the compact finish. Invigorating and fresh, this is a super food-friendly glass.
