The owner of Fairview Wines in Hudson, NY recommended Dama Trebbiano D’Abruzzo 2012 to me one of the past few times I had stopped in. Trebbiano is generally a blending grape and tends to be rather flat on its own. But lately producers have been coaxing out the fresh, invigorating character the grape can have, and he felt this was a great example to give a pour to. For over one hundred years the Marramiero family has been growing grapes on the hills around Pescara, between the Adriatic Sea and the Gran Sasso Mountains. In the early 1990’s Dante Marramiero successfully transformed the vineyards into a full estate with the ability to bottle and age their own wines. Today his children, Enrico and Patrizia possess the same love of the land and passion to continue creating quality wines utilizing traditional family methods alongside modern techniques.
Golden yellow with greenish highlights in colour, aromas of minerals, citrus zest and honeysuckle swirled about in the glass. Lemon and traces of slightly bitter almond were governed by a razor sharp acidity, whilst the crisp, dry finish balanced each sip. A great glass to bring to the table, this will brighten any summer dish.
Estate Bottled by Azienda Marramiero s.r.l.
