Prosecco Blind Tasting at Tousey Winery

This past Friday evening, my husband and I had the pleasure of attending “Taste Club” held at Tousey Winery in the Hudson Valley, NY. Hosted by Tousey Winery owners and winemakers Ben and Kimberly Peacock once a month [except during harvest], the event consists of blind tasting flights with a winner picked from tallying up the points given by each member of the group.
Friday night the first flight was Prosecco, we blind tasted:

Villa Jolanda Prosecco $12
Mionetto Prosecco Brut $15
Nino Franco Rustico Prosecco $15
La Marca Prosecco $17
Tommasi Tenuta Filodora Prosecco $15

Nino Franco Rustico Prosecco was the winner with the highest points. It had well balanced flavours of fruit and slightly bitter herbs, along with zippy bubbles and a refreshing acidity.
My personal favourite of the group was Lamarca Prosecco. Friendly, fun with a wonderful perky fizziness, this was light and bright with zesty citrus notes and a nutty undercurrent.

*All were non vintage, yet had a release date of 2012.
