Domaine Houchart has a long and rich history of grape growing. Dating as far back as ancient Roman times, the estate located at the foot of Mont Sainte Victoire near Aix-en-Provence, was the site of a Gallo-Roman Villa which would have included vineyards and wine production. Through the efforts of the monks of Saint Victor’s Abbey in Marseille who cleared the area in the 11th century, the estate acquired its current form. Jumping to 1890 when the estate was purchased by wine merchant Aurélien Houchart, the sale lists “plantations of vines and almonds…includes the barrels in the cellar.” Today Florence and Jean-Baptiste are the 5th generation of the family to work the 200 acre estate.
Pale coral in colour with aromas of peach, apricot and minerals. Refreshing flavours of strawberry, peach and watermelon gave way to a crisp mineral and citrus zest finish. Clean and dry, it will contribute a sense of elegance to summer dishes and patio sipping.
