Lost Angel Moscato 2011

After gardening in the hot, sticky late afternoon heat, I grabbed the first bottle that came into sight in the fridge, which turned out to be Lost Angel Moscato 2011. Lost Angel Wines are a brand of Foley Family wines, which was founded in 1996 by vintner William Foley II. Foley Family Wines encompasses vineyards in California and the Pacific Northwest and includes brands such as Sebastiani Vineyards, Chalk Hill Estate and Three Rivers Winery. Each property is committed to sustainable farming practices, and of great importance to Foley is “the average American wine lover” who enjoys well-made wines ranging in both style and price. The Lost Angel brand was developed to “create bangin’ wines that seduce the palate with scandalously good flavors”.

Golden straw in colour with aromas of honey, orange blossom and minerals. Aged in stainless steel, a bright clean acidity provided a backbone for concentrated flavours of sweet honey and jasmine, whilst candied ginger notes lingered between each sip. Definitely sweet, but not cloyingly so, this is a well-balanced glass that can comfortably make the transition from desert wine to summer patio sipping.
