Wild Rock ‘Cupids Arrow’ Pinot Noir 2010

Wild Rock Wine Company is collaboration between one of New Zealand’s most acclaimed winemaker and passionate viticulturist, Steve Smith MW and Craggy Range Winery. They have a devoted goal of crafting “new and unforgettable wines, wines designed to surprise, then linger in the mind a little longer than the rest”. All of the grapes are cultivated using sustainable methods in vineyards either owned by the winery or trusted grower partners. The grapes for ‘Cupids Arrow’ were sourced from hillside vineyards in Central Otago’s Cromwell Basin and Gibbston Valley, fermented in stainless steel with indigenous yeasts, and aged 10 months on its lees in used French oak.

Dark cherry red in colour, aromas of wild berries, violets and baking spices rose from the glass. Tart cherry, rhubarb and black cherry flavours filled the medium to full body. Spicy crushed black peppercorn and traces of cinnamon comprised the moderate finish. Flourishing with fruit and spice, this is an easy drinking, plush glass fantastic on its own or at the table.
