Murphy-Goode ‘Liar’s Dice’ Zinfandel 2009

My husband and I decided upon an impromptu dinner at one of our favourite, yet not visited enough local restaurants, New World Bistro Bar. To accompany my sweet and spicy buffalo seitan “wings” I selected Murphy-Goode ‘Liars Dice’ Zinfandel 2009 from the wines by the glass menu. A trio of friends passionate about “wines, family, friends, fun” founded Murphy-Goode Winery in 1985. They believe in living each day as it were the best day of their lives, this same spirit is bestowed upon their wines. ‘Liar’s Dice’ Zinfandel was intended for a backyard barbeque filled with family and friends. The grapes were sourced from sustainable vineyards located in the Dry Creek and Alexander Valley regions.

Bright, transparent garnet in colour, aromas of mixed berry jam, cigar box spices and hints of oak radiated from the glass. Jammy cherry, black currant and blackberry flavours were sprinkled with cozy baking spices in the medium body. Spicy black pepper joined traces of vanilla and toasty oak in the lengthy finish. Packed with jammy fruit and lush peppery spices, this is a great companion with spicy dishes or enjoying on its own.
