Espelt Garnacha 2010

I’m continually on the lookout for tasty, high quality value wines, so I was enthusiastic to give Espelt Garnacha 2010 a pour. Espelt Garnacha is a custom cuvee made for renowned importer Eric Solomon by 7th generation viticulturist and brilliant winemaker Jean-Marc Lafage. The grapes were sourced from organic and biodynamic vineyards located in the high elevations of Costa Brava, northeastern Spain.

Transparent dark ruby in colour, after aerating aromas of grape jam, earthy minerals and leather rose from the glass. Cherry and red currant flavours were supported by velvety tannins in the medium to full body. Spicy black peppercorn joined traces of black current and espresso elements in the moderate finish. This is a fantastic value great at the table or for sipping on its own.
