Tor Del Colle Montepulciano d’Abruzzo Riserva 2007

Tor del Colle is a label owned by Casa Vinicola Botter based in Veneto in northeastern Italy. Casa Vinicola Botter was founded in 1928 by Carlo Botter as a negociant firm that specialized in selling Veneto wines. Today it is run by the family’s 3rd generation and whilst still a leader in the sale of Veneto wines, they have expanded into Apulia, Molise Abruzzo and Sicily. They export 98% of their production to over 40 countries.

Dark garnet in colour, after aerating subtle aromas of damp earth, pepper and cherry jam swirled about in the glass. Tart cherry fruit and traces of dried flowers and earthy leaves were underscored by dry black tea tannins in the medium body. Spicy black pepper and hints of cinnamon comprised the moderate finish. Although the flavours are slightly muddled, this is an easy drinking glass for the table.
