Following the absolutely wonderful powerful and earthy Domaine De Chateaumar Cuvee Vincent Syrah, I fancied a lighter glass to accompany the remainder of the evening and the lovely conversation at the table, so I selected Primarius Pinot Noir 2011. Primarius Pinot Noir is one of the many labels of Precept Wine. Founded in 2003, Precept Wine is the largest privately owned wine company in Northwest America. They source grapes from a combination of owned and contracted vineyards, operate their own wineries, and manage all sales and marketing. The grapes for this Pinot Noir were sourced from 5 vineyards in the Willamette Valley.
Transparent ruby red in colour, aromas of springtime woods with delicate flowers swirled about in the glass. Soft, fruity flavours of cherry and strawberry were supported by hints of earthy elements in the light to medium body. Spicy pink peppercorn and traces of toasty oak comprised the moderate finish. Simple and easy drinking, this is a pleasant glass great for sipping on its own or with light dishes.
