Rancho Zabaco Sonoma Heritage Vines Zinfandel 2010

In addition to her fervent love of Italian wines, my sister also adores Zinfandel. It was therefore a great excuse for me to pick up Rancho Zabaco Sonoma Heritage Vines Zinfandel 2010 for the next time she was over. Founded roughly 10 years ago by winemaker Eric Cinnamon, the Ranch Zabaco winery extends throughout Sonoma County beginning in Dry Creek and finishing up in the Monte Rosso vineyard located in the mountains above the valley. The Winery’s philosophy is to “strive for intense flavor without removing any unique characteristics the vineyards impart to the grapes”.

Red-violet in colour, after aerating aromas of raspberry and blackberry jam and rich chocolate rose from the glass. Concentrated raspberry and cherry pie flavours abounded in the medium to full body. Spicy black pepper, chocolate and dense black cherry elements comprised the velvety finish. Simple and easy drinking, this is a good value and a crowd pleasing Zinfandel.
