Château de la Terriѐre was purchased by the Barbet family in 2003, although their family tradition of wine traders in the area extends back 200 years. The domaine has vineyards in not only Moulin-À-Vent, but also Brouilly and Beaujolais-Villages. The average vine age throughout is 45-70 years old, the vineyards are organically farmed, and the estate has a firm commitment to sustainability. They also distribute the wines of some of the smaller growers in the area with whom they “share the same values: loyalty and respect of our roots”.
Dark garnet with brick highlights in colour, aromas of blackberry, earth and autumn leaves swirled about in the glass. Strawberry and tart cherry pie flavours were supported by silky smooth black tea tannins in the medium body. Soft licorice merged with earthy, slightly bitter, dark chocolate notes in the moderate finish. Elegant and easy drinking, this is a wonderful glass for the table.
