Although it’s somewhat of a sweeping statement, I’m in love with the 1930’s to about 1961. I find the literature, music, fashion, film, art to be exquisite, inventive, classy and plain fun at times. When I caught sight of Cycle Buff Beauty 2010 with it’s label paying homage to the 1930’s pulp fiction novels, I was enamoured. Rebelling against convention Misfits Wine Co. are on a mission to reject the current ideology behind big-business, “homogenized” wine selling and instead focus on creating a new winemaking culture. Made up of Colin McBryde [of Some Young Punks and Adelina fame producer/importer/distributor Marquis Sauvage and President of Vine St. Imports Ronnie Sanders, they focus on producing unique wines with tradition and minimalist methods that focus on terroir and quality.
Dark red-violet in colour, after aerating aromas of woodsy cedar and pine entwined with strawberry swirled about in the glass. Dense baked blackberry and blueberry pie flavours were supported by earthy tapenade notes in the medium-full body. Spicy black pepper and dusty, dried autumn leaves merged into an undercurrent of rich vanilla and baked plum elements in the lengthy finish. Cozy pie flavours and generous earthy components construct a sociable, minxy glass fantastic with dinner.
