During the hot, steamy month of July I had picked up a plethora of white wine to assist in counteracting the heat. Primal Roots White Blend 2011 was part of that collection, but had somehow got pushed back to the neglected area of the fridge [hence its peeling-off label], so I gave it a pour as I was restocking with more refreshing whites. Primal Roots is part of Constellation Brands, which is a world leader in wine, beer and spirits brands. Their portfolio currently consists of over 100 brands such as Robert Mondavi, Ruffino, Estancia, Inniskillin and Svedka. Their motto is “to elevate life with every glass raised”. Always looking to improve the environment, they have implemented initiatives such as the solar power in California, which consists of 17,000 solar panels that generates enough energy for all of their wineries’’ needs, and in Canada their Jackson Triggs and Inniskillin wineries transform grape skins into green electrical energy, powering homes in Canada’s Niagara Region.
Pale straw with bright grass green highlights in colour, aromas of honeysuckle and banana rose from the glass. Fresh, uncomplicated flavours of peach and orange blossom comprised the light body. The spicy, crisp finish displayed grapefruit zest and wet slate elements. Straightforward and easy drinking this is a crowd pleasing glass.
