Amidst the dazzling sea of summer Rosés, Tavel Rosés glimmer intensely with their deep red-pink luminosity. I picked up Les Vignerons de Tavel Les Lauzeraies Rosé 2011 for its mouthwatering cherry-red brilliance. Les Lauzeraies is part of Les Vignerons de Tavel, a cooperative founded in 1937. Today the organization is made up of 85 winegrowers that produce the renowned Tavel Rosés.
Cherry red in colour, aromas of juicy raspberry, flint and rose petals emanated from my glass. Strawberry, raspberry and baked cherry flavours abounded in the medium body, whilst traces of oak contributed an underlying woodsy structure. Racy white pepper and flinty minerals composed the crisp finish. A refreshing mix of fruit and minerals make for an enlivening glass for the summer table.
Rosé blend of Grenache, Cinsault, Syrah, Mourvèdre, Carignans, Clairette, Picpoul and Bourboulenc
