Bodegas Nekeas Vega Sindoa Garnacha Rosé 2011

I picked up Bodegas Nekeas Vega Sindoa Garnacha Rosé 2011 because I thought the cherry pink colour was delightfull. The Navarra region in Spain has long been famous for its fantastic Rosé wines. Bodegas Nekeas is located in the Valdizarbe valley, which is the northernmost district of Navarra. The area has produced wine since as far back as the 15th century, although in more recent times the vineyards had nearly vanished due to poor grape prices and extreme weather conditions. Bodegas Nekeas is one of the first wineries to bring life back to the vineyards in Valdizarbe Valley, and under the management of winemaker Conah Vecino, they have achieved international success.

Cherry pink in colour, aromas of juicy cherry and strawberry leaped from my glass. Strawberry and cherry flavours filled the nearly medium body, whilst hints of white pepper comprised the brisk finish. Although quite easy on the wallet, I was disappointed to find this assertive and yet flat at the same time, and somewhat similar to artificially flavoured juice drink.
