The Dreaming Tree Chardonnay 2010

We had a fun filled day of 4th of July festivities at our friends’ Ted and Rachael’s backyard barbecue extravaganza featuring among other things, bocce ball and John C. Reilly’s doppelganger. Since I have enjoyed The Dreaming Tree Crush and Cabernet Sauvignon, I thought a backyard barbecue on a sweltering hot summer day would be the perfect opportunity for The Dreaming Tree Chardonnay 2010. Legendary musician Dave Matthews and winemaker Steve Reeder share a passion for drinking and making wine, from this dedication stems their goal to produce “quality wine that is accessible to all”. They strive for sustainability in all facets of wine production, from sustainable methods in the vineyard, to bottles that are a quarter pound lighter and manufactured with clean-burning natural gas, to natural corks sourced from sustainable farms.

Pale gold in colour, aromas of fresh lemon and rich honey rose from my glass. Summer apple notes mingled with soft, baked pear flavours in the light to medium body. The finish reflected the combination of oak and stainless steel ageing with its spicy ginger and lemon zest notes that rested comfortably atop traces of warm, buttery toast. The emphasis on clean citrus notes and zesty spice make this a pleasant summer glass.
