Boxhead Shiraz 2010

I picked up Boxhead Shiraz 2010 simply because I fancied the label and knew it was sustainably produced. Boxhead wine is a collaboration between renowned winery Hentley Farms, a boutique, single estate vineyard and their American importer Vine Street Imports. Their goal is to produce a range of budget friendly wines from South Australia that reflect the distinct flavours of the land. The majority of the grapes in the Boxhead were sourced from the Hentley Farms Barossa Estate, which is known for its distinctive Shiraz.

Inky dark purple with red-violet highlights in colour, after aerating aromas of grape jam and rich, damp earth curled about in my glass. Lush fruit flavours of cherry, blackberry and plum abounded in the nearly full body. Spicy black pepper fused with smooth chocolate notes in the lengthy finish. Fun and friendly, this is a crowd pleasing bottle that’s great with a picnic or dinner, and everything in between.
