The Six Hats label was launched in 2009 by Citrusdal Wines, which is a collaborative partnership of Fair Trade farms headed by Charles Back and leading UK wine marketer Mike Paul. The brand is built on the philosophy of highlighting the individual roles and responsibilities that all parties involved in progressive winemaking have. The hats on the label represent these roles of Partnership, Change, Potential, Equity, Dignity and Sustainability.
Purple-garnet with red highlights in colour, aromas of juicy blueberry and blackberry were underscored by rich chocolate and traces of earthy dried forest leaves. Jammy mixed berry pie flavours of blackberry, blueberry and cherry abounded, whilst silky black current and licorice notes peeked through intermittently in the medium body. Spicy black pepper and velvety chocolate were entwined with smoky cedar campfire wisps in the lengthy finish. Fruity and spicy, this is an easy drinking, smooth glass fantastic on its own or at the table.
