Celler Malondro Montsant Besllum 2008

As is my usual habit, I was ambling about in the value section at one of my local wine shops when I spotted Celler Malondro Montsant Besllum 2008. Montsant is a region in Spain consisting of 50 vineyards that ring the highly acclaimed region of Priorat. Whereas Priorat wines can be on the more expensive side, Montsants are generally budget friendly and posses many of the same qualities as Priorats since they are grown in the same mineral rich soil.

Red-violet in colour, after aerating alluring aromas of smoky, brambly berry and lavender swirled about in my glass. Blueberry and blackberry pie flavours wrapped around smooth oak notes in the full body. The moderate yet satisfying finish resonated with spicy black pepper and smoky cedar elements. Velvety and easy drinking, your glass will be empty much faster than you think.
