It’s generally agreed upon that Joseph Carr makes popular, well crafted wines for both the connoisseur and the once-in-a-while-glass at a restaurant consumer. His second label “Josh” was created to be a straightforward, casual, everyday glass for people who are fond of kicking back at the end of the day and enjoying a glass or two. [who isn’t?] The grapes are organically grown and sustainably farmed. In my experience, the Joseph Carr Josh Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon 2007 is another one of those “crowd pleasers”, a wine that I can pour for any reason, anywhere.
It has aromas of rich fruit and earthy tobacco, that coupled with the brilliant dark ruby colour, catches hold of your attention. Blackberry flavours entwine around earthy notes in the medium-full body. Cherry and plum enliven with their brightness and round softness. The medium finish begins with black pepper spice, and closes with cozy elements of chocolate and oak. The fresh fruity flavours of this Bordeaux-style bottle, the warm notes of tobacco and spice, and the soft enjoyable finish, provide a carefree fun glass. As Joseph Carr states on the back label: “Growers, that I call friends, all lend a hand in this ‘winemakers wine’, what we jokingly refer to as ‘vin de garage’, a handcrafted wine we made just for ourselves.”
